Feel It to Heal It: Emotions
Category: Emotional Regulation, Self-Growth, Parenting
Learning to feel your emotions isn’t weakness - it’s healing.
In this episode, I’m talanoa-ing about why learning to manage emotions truly matters; not just for us, but for our kids, our relationships, and the way we show up in the world.
For so long, I didn’t realise how much I was carrying. The things I bottled up, ignored, or pushed down didn’t disappear… they just started overflowing in ways I didn’t always recognise.
I share a bit of my own journey with emotional regulation:
How bottling things up is like sealing emotions in a jar & eventually, that lid will pop
Why anger shows up first, and how it can feel easier than facing sadness or fear
How growing up without a safe space to feel shaped how I now show up as a parent
For a long time, I thought pushing through and staying strong was the only way.
But truth is… that way was heavy.
Learning how to actually feel and regulate my emotions helped me breathe easier. It made space for more calm, more connection, and way less internal chaos.
It’s not always easy.
But it’s worth it.
Because the more we learn to regulate, the more emotionally resilient we become … & that impacts everything.
This episode is for you if:
You tend to bottle up your emotions until you snap or shut down
You want to break generational cycles around emotional suppression
You’re trying to create a safe emotional environment for your kids
You just want to feel lighter and more in control of your reactions
